Why should you make the effort to write a good abstract?
  • Money: Better abstracts receive greater exposure.Hence, you earn more money
  • Improving skills: Writing good abstracts improves your language and other important skills
  • Enriching others:Good abstracts help others learn, understand and broaden their horizon
What constitutes good and effective abstracts?
The basic, most important guidelines you need to remember when writing an abstract are:
  • Use an introduction-body-conclusion structure which presents the book/article
  • Follow strictly the chronology of the book/article
  • Make sure your abstract is divided into paragraphs,which are unified,coherent,concise,and able to stand alone
  • Provide logical connections(or transitions) between the information included
  • Put an emphasis on information design in your abstract: titles, spaces, line breaks, indentation, bullets, bold etc.These elements are highly important for easy and comfortable reading of your content

  • Think of search phrases and keywords that people looking for your abstract's subject might use. Be sure that those exact phrases appear in your abstract, so that they will turn up at the top of a search result listing
  • Tag your abstracts in order to increase their accessibility to other people, as well as enrich their content
