Only two games separate the Florida Gators from claiming their first baseball national championship. But claiming it will be difficult. They'll have to first get past the defending champion. Ken Griffey Jr Shoes The College World Series' best-of-three title series begins Monday, with the Gators (53-17) taking on SEC East foe South Carolina (53-14). First pitch at the new TD Ameritrade Park is scheduled for 8 p.m. The meeting is the fourth between the teams, after the Gamecocks took two of three from the Gators in Gainesville in March. During the lone UF regular season win, the Gators started Hudson Randall against the Gamecocks. The sophomore right-hander will be going again Monday, making his third total CWS appearance, and his second this season. On the opening day of this year's CWS play, Randall helped the Gators beat Texas in a 6-2/3-inning outing. He also pitched in a losing effort against Florida State in last year's CWS. Ken Griffey Jr Shoes 2011 Randall enters Game 1 of the championship series 11-3 with a 2.24 ERA. South Carolina will counter Randall with freshman Forrest Koumas. The right-hander will be making his first-ever CWS appearance. Gamecocks coach Ray Tanner said Sunday that he was slightly bothered by that fact. "His bullpens have been great," Tanner said of Koumas' practice sessions. "(Pitching) coach (Jerry) Meyers has done a great job keeping him there. But he hasn't been on this stage that Hudson Randall has. And Hudson is certainly a much more proven pitcher." Vibram Five Fingers The Gamecocks reached the title series for the second consecutive year after beating Texas A&M on a walk-off single in the first Sunday of the CWS. They then went on to beat Virginia twice, most recently knocking off the Cavaliers in a 13-inning thriller that ended on a walk-off error last Friday. Last season, South Carolina beat UCLA in two games to claim the final national championship decided at Rosenblatt Stadium. This is the first year the World Series has been anywhere other than Rosenblatt. Air Yeezy 2011 UF reached the title series after beating Texas 8-4 in its opening game. The Gators then went on to beat Vanderbilt two times, winning one game across two, weather-interrupted days. Last Friday, they beat the Commodores when junior Preston Tucker launched a one-out RBI single off the left field wall. This is UF's second title series appearance.
